I’m here to help students unlock their full potential and achieve the very best grades and school/university places they can.
I have seven years' tutoring experience. I also work for one of the UK's leading exam boards as an assessor (marker), which gives me great insight into how to achieve exam success.
Perhaps your child is struggling in a subject and needs to boost their confidence, achievement and exam technique with some one-on-one support and motivation. Or perhaps they are doing well and would like someone to push them that extra bit further to obtain the skills and depth of understanding they will need to get onto the top university courses.
I am a professional tutor with a truly exceptional track record. Because this is my livelihood, your child's progress is my top priority. I am very friendly and develop good working relationships with my tutees and their parents. Around two thirds of my new students come through recommendations from previous families.
Every child is different, and I pride myself in always finding a bespoke approach to my lessons to suit a particular student.
Give me a call and let's talk about how we can work together to realise your goals!
Just a few of the comments from last month's results days:
"Dear Felix, Sam got excellent results in her GCSES. Fantastic - thank you so much for your great help, she couldn't have done it without you! She is so happy and relieved!"
"Hi Felix, Anna is absolutely thrilled with her results. 9 9 8!!! And one mark away from a 9 in biology too! Thank you so much for all your help. She says a big big thank you!"
"Alex did really well, she got 7 in biology, 7 in chemistry and physics. We are so proud of the progress she's made!! Thank you very much for all the help and support you have provided him."
"Off to Imperial! Thank you so much for all your help!"
Many children also struggle with revision and exam preparation skills and benefit from guidance and tips on how to revise effectively.
I can travel to your home within a certain radius of West London. I've been teaching online for years (I teach students all over the world, as well as different parts of the UK), and make full use of interactive technology and multimedia to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
A bit more about me:
I have a first class degree from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences. The course gave me a deep understanding of a range of subjects including physics, maths, biology and history. I read History and Philosophy of Science in Part II, and wrote my dissertation on the Eiffel Tower!
I am an examiner for one of the main UK exam boards for GCSE and A level, so I have a great insight into what is required for exam success – from exam technique to the common mistakes to avoid. I have recently worked with Cambridge University Press as a writer on their resources for the new GCSE syllabus.
I have a permanent role with the Association for Science Education (ASE) developing school resources.
My background is in the film industry – on feature film production and most recently at the Film Fund at the BFI. I use my spare time to write.
I've now been tutoring full-time for seven years and have found I really enjoy it and achieve great results across a range of abilities, whether it's helping students move from Cs to Bs or from As to A*s (or 8s to 9s these days in GCSEs!).
My tutoring:
A LEVEL: Maths, Further Maths, Physics
GCSE: Maths, Further Maths, Combined Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
11 + & 13 + / Common Entrance – track record in helping both lower and higher ability pupils prepare for these important tests for schools including Latymer, St Paul's, Winchester, Hampton's, Dulwich.
Tutoring is all about addressing a student’s unique needs, so please do give me a call by phone or Zoom to discuss what you want to get out of lessons.
I have a full DBS police check (renews each year).
My standard rate is £75 / hour online
£80 / hour in-person
About half my students are online; we use online whiteboards for a multimedia experience that is almost identical to one-to-one tuition. Many students actually prefer it.
Last year I helped some students with block sessions for half-terms/exam revision with targeted revision plans - which led to some outstanding results!
