Skoda Octavia Hybrid: 1.5-litre, two motors, up to 170hp
Skoda has revealed the Octavia Hybrid, its first full hybrid model, with a 1.5-litre engine, two motors, and 136hp or 170hp outputs.

Skoda has revealed the Octavia Hybrid, the first Skoda model to get a full hybrid powertrain. The self-charging system combines a 1.5-litre TSI evo2 petrol engine, two electric motors and a single-speed automatic transmission, and needs no external charging.
The Octavia Hybrid is offered with 136hp and 170hp outputs in both sedan and estate body styles, in Selection and Sportline trims. The 136hp version uses a 1.5 TSI petrol engine rated at 131hp, while the 170hp version uses a 1.5 TSI rated at 150hp. Both versions share the same electric motors and have an electronically limited top speed of 180km/h.
The traction battery sits under the rear seats and has a gross energy content of 1.6kWh, with charge held between 40 and 90 per cent. The fuel tank holds 40 litres. The smaller motor mainly works as a generator and starts the engine; the larger traction motor drives the front wheels and recovers energy under braking.
The system switches automatically between all-electric, series hybrid and parallel hybrid modes. In all-electric mode, the traction motor can run for up to around 2km without starting the engine. In series mode, the engine powers a generator that drives the traction motor; this is the main mode up to around 60km/h, and also engages when battery charge drops or stronger acceleration is requested. Parallel mode is used above 60km/h and during steady driving, with the engine driving the wheels through the clutch and a single fixed gear ratio, assisted by the traction motor when needed.
Skoda says orders in Europe open in October, with deliveries scheduled from December 2026. The company has not announced prices or India launch plans.
