Ford's Ability to Shift Between EV and Conventional Production
Ford has been re-rated from Hold to a cautious Buy in an analysis citing its flexibility between EV and conventional production.

Analyst Zoltan Ban has re-rated Ford Motor Company from Hold to a cautious Buy, saying its ability to shift between electric-vehicle and conventional production provides flexibility in volatile market conditions.
The analysis points to Ford's strong EV and hybrid lineup and agile segment management as positioning the company well for recovery. It also warns that dividend cuts remain a risk. Near-term risks cited include an economic slowdown, high rates and energy prices, which the analyst suggests could bring further downside. The analyst says he is incrementally accumulating on weakness.
The note reports that Ford's unit sales fell 8% in the first half of 2026, while revenue rose 1% to $91.5bn. Profit margins remained thin at 1.5%.
Ford is described as having surprised the market a few years ago by shifting its focus, after years of evaluation of how legacy car manufacturers would adapt to EVs. The note presents Ford's ability to produce both EVs and conventional vehicles as a source of flexibility in uncertain market conditions.
