Yamaha, R1, 1998,stunning,sought after red/white,genuine bike.

This is my beautiful 1998 R1,sadly up for sale,at 62 my arthritic wrists are finding it uncomfortable to ride,I need something more upright.
I’ve included the registration,so genuine interested buyers can do all the relevant checks,although I have paperwork from the previous owner who paid to get the checks done, If you want to see them I will gladly forward them to you.
This motorcycle is pretty much standard, including the original rear reflector, lots of previous service history including front rear brake caliper overhaul, forks and rear shock overhaul, steering head bearings replaced, Barnett clutch conversion and nearly new Metzler tyres, these were all carried out by previous owners,the only item Ive replaced is a gel battery.
This bike has had a complete and professional engine rebuild using genuine Yamaha parts where required This was carried out at 46316 miles. The current mileage is 49313. The engine and gearbox are sweet. The engine rebuild was carried out by a previous owner,I have a receipt of work carried out,but no costing.
Please don’t be put off by the mileage, this engine is basically new.
A new MOT was issued a few months ago, passed with no advisories. I have only ridden it a couple of miles home The bike hasn’t been used since.
The bike comes with a lot of paperwork original talk kit and sells brochures logbook in my name. This is an early UK model registered in May 1998.
There are a few minor issues which are common to these early models easily fixable and that little cost:
1) the oil level sensor warning flashes. This is a common fault with this model. It is not an oil pressure light just a level indicator,slightly overfill it with oil and it goes out ,not recommended. Probably needs a new sensor. I know a lot of people just bypass the switch..
2) still has the original ignition barrel, slightly worn, just needs the key tipping slightly when turning ignition on.
3) neutral light illumination is hit or miss,probably needs a new switch or adjustment.

This is a genuine bike and in the sought after colours, which always turns heads,this bike although not showroom condition, is still a thing of beauty, never taken out in the rain and always wrapped up like a baby in my garage.If I was going to keep the bike I’d get the wheels bead blasted,they have been touched up over the years.
