WHICH? VERDICT
Incredibly good
We were hugely impressed with this washer-dryer, which passed our rigorous washing and drying tests with flying colours. Not only does it leave the load incredibly clean, but everything is dried evenly and accurately. It’s a Best Buy and an Eco Buy.

What is it?
It’s a freestanding washer-dryer with a maximum wash capacity of 9kg for cottons. As with other washer-dryers you’ll need to remove some items before drying though, as the maximum drying load is 5kg.

If you’re in a rush for your laundry, there’s a Speed Perfect setting that reduces the time of the standard programs by up to 65%. Or you could try the all-in-one wash and dry option that delivers 1kg of clean, dry clothes in an hour.

The program list includes a steam setting that claims to relax the fibres, soften creases, and make ironing easier.
The end time can be delayed by up to 24 hours to help you finish your laundry at a more convenient time.

Another useful extra is the pause and add feature, so you can simply open the door part way through the wash cycle and pop in that stray sock that escaped on its way to the drum.

How well does it clean, rinse and spin?
Everyday dirt and grime will be eliminated whether you use the cotton or easy-care program, with both options scoring top marks in our testing.

The rinse isn’t bad, and everything is rounded off by a powerful spin that ensures the load is as dry as possible before drying commences.

How well does it dry?
The humidity sensors are extremely accurate, so the drying programs stop at precisely the right time – without leaving clothes too damp or over-dried.
The whole load is dried evenly, so you shouldn’t find any damp items balled up in the middle of the drum.
But it’s slow, with each kilo of cottons needing 45 minutes if you’re using the cupboard dry setting - that’s almost twice as long as some other models we’ve tested.

How much does it cost to run?
The wash programs don’t use much water or electricity, which means this washer-dryer earns our Eco Buy badge. It’s slightly less efficient in dryer mode though, which could bump up running costs a little.

Is it easy to use and live with?
The drum opening is large enough to take bulky items without too much of a squeeze.
Setting the different programs and functions is easy, thanks to the well-laid-out control panel. The touch controls beep when activated, so it’s obvious what’s been selected.

Should I buy it?
Yes. This Bosch cleans and dries brilliantly, and thoroughly deserves its place alongside our other Best Buy and Eco Buy washer-dryers.
