Description

The Volvo S80 is a highly under-rated luxury "Gran Turismo" saloon car. It wafts you along quietly and effortlessly, in the comfort of sumptuous black leather seats. The five cylinder D5 engine is legendary for it's reliability and economy (an overall average of around 40 mpg and nearer 50 on a motorway). The six speed gearbox changes almost imperceptibly but can be manually overridden (the "geartronic" bit).
It has all the usual Volvo safety features- airbags and curtains, "Side Impact Protection System", etc.
It also has the legendary Volvo sound system and a built-in mobile 'phone connection which comes across the speakers.
It has a large boot which can be increased by the lowering of the rear seats in a 40:60 combination.
The door mirrors are electrically controlled and the headlights can be adjusted vertically by a switch.
There is an electrically controlled tilt & slide sunroof.
I've owned the vehicle for a little over four years and in that time I've had it fully serviced, the cambelt has been changed, the front disks, new pads, a wheel bearing and sensor and a battery.
There are a number of spurious messages which appear on start-up, parking sensor service required, ABSC service, engine service etc all of which can be turned off and ignored.
The wheels and tyres are all good but I do have an additional set of four which can be separately negotiated
