Description

I restored this lovely mahogany Soprano ukulele many years ago. I now play mostly classical guitar, so I'd like to find a good home for some I've collected over the years.

This delightful example is labelled 'The Ozark' and likely made in Japan. From the label it appears to be an early example from the days long before Stentor started importing them in their modern form and production moved to Romania.

She's in fabulous condition, with only occasional minor blemishes, and you can see in the high resolution images that she's a certain Martin vibe about her. I like to take pictures outside in the light so folk can see detail.

She has a nicely figured rosewood fretboard above the sound hole, and together with the headstock, she's definitely based on the Martin Ukulele. A rosewood bridge also.

As a courtesy, I've tidied the fretwork prior to sale, so all nice and level / shiny etc, and everything cleaned and polished to a soft sheen. I've not changed the strings as they're still fine, and folk will immediately put their favourite strings on anyway. She's mostly been sat in her case.

The crocodile skin style case is real vintage, and could even be pre war. I've included it as a good will gesture to shelter the ukulele, and possibly protect her in the post if necessary, but she's more ornamental than practical, and a bit fragile to be throwing on the back seat etc, so look after her. The case itself is collectable in her own right. Still sturdy, but needs a bit of care going forward. Let's keep these wonderful items going.

Scale length around 340mm (Soprano).
Nut width 35mm
Current action 2.5mm bass and 2.2mm treble.

The tuners work very well, so all you need to do is play her. She'd make a great Christmas gift for any ukulele player or collector. I don't think you'll find another out there any time soon, especially one that a restorer has helped a bit.

I can post her with tracking using Parcelforce for around £12.50 if you need it.
