About the Role

Merlyn Phoenix Limited based in Cricklade Swindon is hiring for HGV Class 1 drivers for trunking work.

We offer paid holiday, pension contributions, overtime, trunking with no loading and unloading. We treat our HGV Class 1 C + E drivers with respect, You are our biggest asset .

Rotas are planned to be flexible, balancing your needs and the needs of our main customer, the world's largest online retailor

We are a rapidly expanding business and we have a contract with the worlds largest online retailor, providing long-term careers for our drivers.

No loading or unloading is required. No tramping, great facilities and free refreshments at the fulfilment centres

Shift Patterns

Various shift patterns available

24/7 operation working 363 days a year covering weekends and bank holidays

HGV driver shifts are predominantly late evening and nights with some day and afternoon shifts

Average shift length 12 hours including POA and breaks

Days / Afternoon / Night shifts available

Full time / Part time we are flexible

HGV Driver Benefits

Permanent contract. Contract 4 shifts per week 1 to 2 days overtime available. Salary GBP38,000 pa after probation, based on 5 shifts per week

Ability to earn up to GBP42,000 with overtime

Contributory company pension

28 days paid holiday based on 5 shifts per week

HGV class 1 Driver is not required to assist with unloading/loading.

Driving from fulfilment centre to fulfilment centre or warehouse/ distribution centre

Traction work only- drop/swap trailers. With boxed trailers only

HGV Driver Requirements

Hold a valid commercial Driving License with the Correct Categories C / C+E

Have a Professional Driving Qualification called the Full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Hold a Digital Tachograph / Smart Card

Pass a background check (below) to the extend it is permitted by the applicable law

Pass a standard drug and alcohol test (below) to the extend it is permitted by the applicable law

Be able to speak & read English satisfactorily

Have a maximum of 6 penalty points in the Driver's License (as well as no DD, DR or IN endorsements)

HGV Driver Responsibilities

Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver packages to warehouse on time

Interact with clients' colleagues and suppliers in a professional manner

Work occasional evenings and weekends

Complete daily maintenance checks on delivery trucks and notify manager of any issues

Report issues to vehicles including trailers and delays to schedule to relevant person in real time on the R4D Relay for Driver smartphone app

Drive in inclement weather, such as light snow

Maintain electronic logs to track routes and deliveries use R4D smartphone app

There is no loading /unloading or cargo securing requirements (the fulfilment centre team will take care of those)
