Head of Service – Asset Management

Length: 6+ Months

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Help shape the future of Newcastle’s homes.

We’re looking for an experienced leader to take charge of the planning, maintenance, and improvement of thousands of council-owned homes across Newcastle. This is a senior role where you’ll be making big decisions about how we look after our housing stock now and for years to come.

What you’ll do:

*

Lead a team delivering safe, modern, and energy-efficient homes for our residents.

*

Plan and oversee major repairs, upgrades, and long-term investment programmes.

*

Make smart decisions about when to improve, replace, or sell properties.

*

Manage large budgets to get the best value for the Council and residents.

*

Secure extra funding to invest in housing and neighbourhood improvements.

*

Advise senior leaders and councillors on housing stock performance, risks, and opportunities.

*

Build strong relationships with communities, contractors, and other partners.

What we’re looking for:

*

Senior-level experience in housing asset management, property maintenance, or capital investment.

*

Proven ability to lead teams and manage multi-million-pound budgets.

*

Strong understanding of compliance, safety, and sustainability in housing.

*

Strategic thinking with the ability to deliver real results.

*

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Why join us?

At Newcastle City Council, you’ll have the chance to make a lasting impact on the quality of homes across the city. You’ll be part of a committed leadership team, with the resources and support to deliver real change for our residents and neighbourhoods
