Description

MMP Consultancy is seeking an Estates Surveyor/Property Partner to join an Operational Property Team on behalf of a Local Authority based in Bristol. In this key role, you will act as a strategic link between the services that occupy council buildings and the Property Division, advising on all aspects of property asset management.

This is a temporary position until the end of December 2025, subject to possible extension thereafter. The rate of pay will be £33.92ph via an umbrella company over a 37-hour working week. The team offers hybrid working with 2 days in the office per week. Site visits may be required - usually between 1 to 5 per week depending on project demands.

Responsibilities:

Leading on service-specific property reviews to support cost-effective and efficient delivery of council services.

Developing and implementing property strategies that align with service needs, council-wide objectives, and statutory compliance.

Supporting and challenging services to ensure their use of property assets is efficient, fit-for-purpose, and future-ready.

Facilitating joint working with partners, other public sector bodies, and voluntary organisations to support coordinated asset planning across the city.

Translating service needs into clear, deliverable asset management plans in collaboration with the Asset Strategy Manager.

Requirements:

A property related qualification and experience of providing pro-active property management in a large organisation.

Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills with ability to deliver professional advice to a wide range of service disciplines and to negotiate and complete a range of property transaction.

Extensive knowledge and experience in the management of public sector property.

You'll be experienced in property asset management, with a solid understanding of how property strategy impacts service delivery.

You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - you'll be engaging with a wide range of colleagues across the Council, as well as external partners.

You'll be proactive, solutions-focused, and confident in challenging the status quo to drive improvements.

A strong understanding of relevant property legislation and the ability to deliver property-related projects and transactions is essential
