We are currently recruiting for experienced Civil Disclosure Officers to work on a full-time, long-term contract in Birmingham.

Hybrid working is available on this contract.

The role is paying £15.48p per hour (PAYE)

The role will be situated within the Police, so applicants must be able to obtain national security vetting.

Key Responsibilities:

To work within The Civil Disclosure unit which is a team responsible for collating and redacting information to make secure disclosures to the appropriate requester for a range of purposes.

The role as a Civil Disclosure Officer requires candidates to manage their own workload on a daily basis under the line management of the Civil Disclosure Unit Manager. Candidates need to be able to interrogate police systems whilst interpreting the relevant legislation and guidance when considering the disclosure of information.

Staff will be required to have contact with members of the public and other internal departments and external organisations whilst representing the force in a professional manner. Civil Disclosure Offices are expected to adopt a multi-functional approach to enable them to respond to various requests that are processed by the department.

Staff will need excellent IT skills with includes the full range of MS Office as well as having the ability to learn new software packages as they arise. Staff will also need to demonstrate good communication skills and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

Criteria:

Previous experience in working for the police or other public sector body

Experience of redacting third party information from various reports

Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018

Previous experience of processing Subject Access Requests

The ability to understand interpret apply and advise on relevant legislation accordingly.
