Location: Liverpool

Contract: Until 31/12/2025 (with potential for extension)

Hours: 35 hours per week

Rate: £68.13 per hour (umbrella)

We are seeking an experienced and driven Area Team Leader to join its Building Control Service within the City Development Directorate. This is a site-based Building Inspector role, offering the opportunity to lead a skilled team and shape the safety and compliance of construction projects across the city.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage a team of Building Control Officers, Plan Examiners, and apprentices

- Oversee compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Act

- Support the Building Safety Regulator in multi-disciplinary inspections

- Deliver quotes and service agreements for building projects

- Monitor team performance against KPIs and operational standards

- Participate in sports ground safety inspections and enforcement

- Provide technical expertise on-site for complex developments

- Deputise for the Head of Building Control when required

Requirements:

- Full professional qualification (RICS, CABE, CIOB, MIFE)

- LABC/CIOB Level 6 in Building Control or equivalent experience

- Demonstrated competency to Specialist Level (including Class 3H)

- Extensive experience in Building Control, including high-rise and complex structures

- Strong leadership, communication, and policy development skills

- Full clean UK driving licence

- Willingness to participate in out-of-hours inspections and emergency call-outs
