We are Dove House Hospice, a local hospice that have been providing end-of-life care for people in Hull and East Yorkshire for over 40 years.

Dedicated to our patients and their families, our unique person-centred care focuses on the needs of the person we are caring for, not just their illness, and our staff are committed to making staying at Dove House a home from home experience.

We are now looking for a Learning & Development Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week.

The Role

As a Learning & Development Officer, you will design and deliver engaging non-clinical training programmes to strengthen the skills and capabilities of hospice staff, volunteers and placement staff.

Working alongside the Head of People and Development, you will create insightful development initiatives, ensuring engagement and successful completion of each course.

You will lead the induction process for new staff, providing a welcoming introduction to our values and culture, support the delivery of mandatory training, and develop training materials and learning resources.

Beyond this, you will shape an impactful external education programme to raise awareness and build confidence in sensitive topics such as death, dying and grief for the friends and family of those in our hospice.

About You

To be considered as a Learning & Development Officer, you will need:

- Demonstrable experience of teaching, including delivering training to individuals and groups

- Experience in designing effective and inclusive learning activities

- Strong data entry skills and the ability to interpret results

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

- A sound understanding of digital literacy

- The ability to use social media in an educational and training context

- The ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends

- A full, valid driving licence with access to a car or other means of transport

- A teaching qualification (or a willingness to work towards one)
