VINTAGE FRENCH CANTILEVER TOOL BOX BY S.N.O.R. MADE IN FRANCE, BRASS PADLOCK & KEY - 30cm long 21cm wide 23 cm tall - 1950s MID CENTURY CLASSIC CAR - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got this at a vide maison in Coulmiers le Sec, Burgundy, where apparently this had been used by the owners relative as a 1950s classic car accessory (we’ve since used it as a tool box).
It’s a good quality compact cantilever tool box made by quality tool box manufacturer S.N.O.R France
Brief research dates it to the late 1940s-1950s.
Now very worn but attractively retro in appearance with some of the original bronze paint still visible, this is still sound and usable for it’s intended purpose or as a Classic Car accessory, an unusual storage box, or just as a decorative display item.

In good vintage condition with some wear, rust, dents, peeling paint, and staining consistent with its age and use but no real damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
In more or less as found condition having just had a rinse and light wax.
Constructed from sheet metal painted a retro bronze colour which is now peeled back to bare metal in places and rusted.
The rusted surfaces are sound with no serious corrosion or through perforation - see photos.
It opens and closes as it should but is creaky and needs a little persuasion.
All hinges are intact and sound.
The two sections open out reasonably well.
The interior is stained and has rust in areas but is sound.
The handles are worn and one is a little bent and loose but they are secure and sound - see photos.
There is a clasp to the top for locking and a vintage brass padlock and key is included.
The top needs some persuasion to close but does so with the top rising proud - see photos.
The base is worn and rusted but sound with no rust holes.

Measures approximately:
30 cm long,
23 cm tall to the top of the handles 15 cm to the top edge of the box,
21 cm wide,
Weighs about 2.8 kg.
