Description
Antique Engineers Tool Chest Drawers. Edwardian-early 20th Century. Including all the tools and bits and bobs within. See photos.
In absolute original condition. Straight off the shop floor and onto the market place and with the engineers tools used over the decades, still within.
Has the smell of an oily workshop with a light oily residue from over the years. With the general knocks and bumps of use.
The chest was my uncles who worked at Frosts in Rochdale until his retirement. He purchased the chest as a young apprentice.. in the 50s from one of the old guys who was about to retire..
Solid oak carcass and drawer linings. Ply back board and drawer bottoms. Brass Lock (no key)
All drawers run smoothly. Some drawer partitions still inside.
Drawer knobs are made of celluloid and are reeded.. They are a good indication of age.. (see photo)
Leather and metal carrying handle. Can just make out the word Britain and some numbers stamped on it.
My uncle used a piece of lino/rexine to protect the top so it looks cleaner..
Lovely original look and colour. I'd suggest the finish would clean up or revive nicely with use of turpentine, 0000 wire wool and a good quality Bees/carnauba wax... the inside will need a little more thought.
Tools. There is a selection of tools and bits and bobs still in the drawers. I have laid the contents of each drawer out and photographed them. Please study the photos..I know nothing about tools..
I note names such as Moore & Wright, The L.S. Strarrett Co, Chesterman England..
My uncle also stamped his initials on most items "JN" for fear of the getting nicked.
A good honest find. Job Lot, Engineers chest and contents..
