Part-Time Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for Year 2 Child with Autism)

Location: CV35

Contract: Part-Time, Term Time Only

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (12:00-3:15pm)

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £13.85 - £15.38 per hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Year 2 who has Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The role involves supporting the child in class, helping them to access learning, develop social communication skills, and regulate emotions in a supportive environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals to provide consistent and tailored support, helping the child thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support to a child with Autism in a Year 2 class

*

Implement individual learning strategies and behaviour support plans

*

Encourage positive interactions and social development

*

Assist with transitions and sensory regulation strategies

*

Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents/carers

*

Record observations and contribute to progress reviews

*

Whole school lunchtime duty

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

*

Has experience working with children with Autism (in a school or similar setting)

*

Demonstrates empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills

*

Understands the importance of routine and consistency

*

Can adapt strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement

*

Is reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team

Desirable (but not essential):

*

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3)

*

Knowledge of PECS, visual timetables, or other SEND strategies

*

First aid or safeguarding training
