Description

Role: Teaching Assistant

Location: Wandsworth, South West London

Salary: up to 650 per week

Contract: Term–time only (approx. 39 weeks per year)

About the School

Horizon Teachers are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive two–form entry primary school located in the heart of Wandsworth. The school caters to children aged 4 to 11 and is known for its nurturing ethos and strong commitment to both academic achievement and emotional well–being.

Ideal Applicant

Experience working or volunteering in a primary school or educational settingConfident in supporting children's learning and development in a classroom environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsReliable, flexible, and calm under pressureBasic qualifications (e.g. GCSEs) required; relevant TA qualifications preferredUnderstanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to child welfare

Key responsibilities

Support the class teacher in delivering high–quality lessons across the primary curriculumProvide one–to–one and small group support, including pupils with special educational needs (SEND)Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resourcesHelp manage pupil behaviours and ensure a safe, positive learning environmentSupervise children during playtime, lunch time, and school transitionsMaintain accurate pupil records and contribute to tracking progressWork collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals when requiredUphold schools' values of respect, inclusion an achievement
