Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Autism Support)

Location: Winslow, Buckinghamshire

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Full-time– Term Time Only

Salary: £90 – £120 per day (depending on experience)

About the Role:

A nurturing and inclusive school in Buckinghamshire is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You will play a vital role in helping children access learning, regulate their emotions, and develop social and independence skills within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Work alongside class teachers to adapt lessons and resources for pupils with autism.

Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, focusing on communication, social interaction, and self-regulation.

Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.

Use structured approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, and visual timetables to aid learning.

Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families, and external professionals to provide consistent support.

Requirements:

Experience working with children with autism, or a keen interest in developing skills in this area.

Understanding of SEN and inclusive practices.

NVQ in Childcare and Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable).

Training in Team Teach, TEACCH, PECS, or positive handling (desirable).

Strong communication skills, patience, and a caring approach.

Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
