Sports Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs School)

Location: Bournemouth

Position: Full-Time

Start Date: September 2025 or ASAP

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to become a part of our welcoming SEN school community.

About the Role:

As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate with our students to promote their participation in sports and physical activities, helping to develop their physical skills, confidence, and social interaction. You will support PE teachers and assist students with a range of needs, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all.

Additionally, you should be willing to support students across other lessons and subjects within the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of sports and physical education sessions tailored to students' individual needs

Encourage student participation and foster a positive attitude towards physical activity

Assist with the supervision and safety of students during sports activities

Be willing to support in other lessons throughout the school day

Adapt activities to suit varying abilities and ensure inclusivity

Support students in developing motor skills, coordination, and teamwork

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to plan and implement engaging activities

Ideal Candidate:

Passionate about supporting children with special educational needs

Previous experience working with SEN students is desirable

Enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging with a proactive attitude

Good communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge of adapted sports and inclusive teaching methods is a plus
