Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant – PMLD & Medical Needs

Location: Havering

Full–Time September Start

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 3:20pm

Setting: Specialist SEND School Primary

A nurturing SEND school in Havering is looking for compassionate and committed Teaching Assistants to join their team this September. The school supports pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical needs, offering a highly specialist and person–centred learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with PMLD and medical needsAssist with personal care, feeding, and medical routines as requiredSupport access to a sensory and communication–focused curriculumUse visual aids and other communication strategiesWork closely with a multidisciplinary team including therapists and nursesMaintain a calm, consistent, and caring presence in the classroom

Ideal Candidate:

Experience in a SEND, care, or medical support setting (preferred but not essential)Comfortable with personal care and supporting medical needsEmpathetic, patient, and physically fit for manual handling (training can be provided)A team player with a strong commitment to inclusionEnhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
