Be the Calm in the Chaos. Lead with Boundaries. Support with Compassion.

We are seeking a highly capable, confident, and emotionally intelligent Behaviour Support Specialist to manage and lead an Isolation Room provision in a dynamic and supportive secondary school environment in Wakefield.

This is not just supervision — it’s structured intervention. If you're experienced in behaviour support, crisis de-escalation, and student mentoring, this is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in a child’s ability to re-engage with learning and succeed.

The Role – Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and support pupils working in isolation or internal exclusion due to behaviour-related incidents

De-escalate challenging situations using trauma-informed and restorative approaches

Reinforce school behaviour policies with empathy and consistency

Mentor students on decision-making, accountability and reintegration strategies

Keep accurate records of attendance, conduct, and incidents within the provision

Liaise with senior leaders, behaviour managers, SEND teams, and parents/carers to support individual behaviour plans

You’ll Need:

Proven experience in a behaviour, pastoral or mentoring role within a school or youth setting

Strong presence with the ability to lead calmly under pressure

Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional regulation

A thorough understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing

Resilience, consistency and a solutions-focused mindset

Desirable (But Not Essential):

Team Teach / MAPA / Positive Handling or similar de-escalation training

Experience working with pupils with SEMH, trauma, ADHD or ASD

Understanding of behaviour policies, exclusions and reintegration practices

Experience delivering or supporting behaviour interventions or restorative sessions

Background in youth work, PRU (Pupil Referral Unit), or Alternative Provision is a bonus

What You’ll Receive:

Placement in a Wakefield school with an inclusive, student-first ethos

A leadership-backed isolation space with clear systems and support

5-day full-time consistency — ideal for career development or future pastoral roles

Ongoing CPD opportunities & behaviour management training

Weekly pay & dedicated consultant support throughout your placement

This is more than crowd control – it’s about connection, redirection and second chances.

If you’re ready to build trust, restore behaviour, and help students find a way forward, we want you in our team.
