SEN Teaching Assistant - Reception & Year 2

Location: Haringey (N15) - commutable from Wood Green, Tottenham, Turnpike Lane, Seven Sisters

Pay: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Full-time, long-term

Long Term Futures is partnering with a kind, nurturing primary school in Haringey to recruit two SEN Teaching Assistants-one to support children in Reception and another in Year 2. These roles are tailor-made for candidates skilled in inclusive practice who genuinely care about building confidence, resilience, and independence in young learners.

Role Overview

Reception SEN TA

You'll support children with early learning challenges, including communication and social development. Your role will involve embedding routine, supporting small group learning, and using visual and sensory tools to help children access the Early Years curriculum successfully.

Year 2 SEN TA

You will work with primary-aged pupils who may be working below Year 2 curriculum expectations or have learning differences such as ASD, speech and language difficulties, or processing needs. You'll implement structured interventions, scaffold learning, and promote positive behaviour strategies.

In both roles, you will:

Deliver 1:1 and small group instruction keyed to individual needs

Use behaviour management techniques to maintain calm and inclusive learning spaces

Adapt learning materials with scaffolding and visual aids

Monitor and record student progress, contributing to target-setting and review meetings

Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, and external support professionals

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience supporting children with SEN, especially at Early Years or KS1 levels

Empathy, patience, and a thoughtful, child-centred approach

Knowledge of early communication strategies, visual supports, and structured learning approaches

Calm, professional presence with excellent communication skills
