Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Sensory Processing Needs

Location: Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: GBP85 – GBP100 per day (based on experience)

Contract: Full–Time, Term Time Only Temp to Perm Potential

The Opportunity: We are seeking a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Key Stage 2 with sensory processing difficulties. This is a full–time role starting in September 2025, ideal for someone with a genuine passion for inclusive education and an understanding of how sensory needs can impact learning and behaviour.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward–thinking and inclusive primary school in Rickmansworth, where pupils are supported to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Your Role: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a pupil s daily school experience. The child you ll be supporting may have difficulty with sensory input, transitions, focus, and emotional regulation, and will benefit from consistent, calm and tailored support throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities: Support the child with transitions, focus, and engagement across the school day

Implement sensory strategies and calming techniques to help the child manage sensory overload

Prepare and adapt classroom materials and resources to meet the pupil s sensory profile

Liaise regularly with class teachers, SENDCo, and external professionals

Help promote a safe and structured environment, both in class and during less structured times such as break or lunchtime

Use visual supports, routines, and sensory tools to reduce anxiety and aid communication

Contribute to regular review meetings and keep clear, consistent records of progress and observations

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience supporting children in a school or SEN setting

Knowledge or training in sensory processing needs (or willingness to learn)

A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to adapt to changing situations and provide consistent support

Ideally a relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent

Key Details: Full–time (Monday to Friday), term time only

Salary: GBP85 GBP100 per day (depending on experience)

Temp–to–perm pathway available

Must have/willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS clearance
