Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Specialist School (Gosport)
A high-achieving specialist school in Gosport is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team full-time. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with SEN students, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and challenging behaviours, while also providing essential personal care.

Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour
Start: ASAP/ September 2025
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to SEND students, assisting with academic and social development.
Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours with patience and understanding.
Assist students with personal care needs, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety.
Work closely with teachers and staff to implement personalised learning plans and provide tailored support.
Encourage students to develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills.
Create a positive, nurturing environment where students feel motivated and supported.
To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you must have:
An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
Previous experience as a care assistant or in a similar role, ideally supporting SEND students.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children.
Ideal Candidate:
A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and resilience in managing challenging situations.
The ability to foster an inclusive and positive learning environment.
