SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH Specialist Setting

Location: Stoke-On-Trent

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Setting: Specialist site supporting pupils with SEMH & anxiety

We're currently working in partnership with a highly supportive specialist school that is seeking SEN Teaching Assistant's to join their dedicated team this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with young people who present with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs - particularly those with high levels of anxiety.

The School:

This unique setting offers a calm, therapeutic environment with small class sizes (no more than 8 pupils per class), allowing staff to provide tailored support and build meaningful relationships. The school has a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing and staff collaboration, making it an excellent environment for both pupils and professionals to thrive.

The Role:

As a SEN TA, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils' learning and emotional development. Working closely with the teaching and pastoral teams, you will:

- Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis

- Help manage challenging behaviours in a positive and proactive way

- Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies

- Foster a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment

Ideal Candidate:

We're looking for someone who is:

- Experienced (or confident) in working with pupils with SEMH and/or high anxiety

- Calm, patient and resilient, with a passion for supporting vulnerable young people

- Able to build strong, trusting relationships with students and colleagues

- Ideally has relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant), although experience and attitude are equally valued
