SEN Support Assistant

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN provision in the Preston area for SEN Support Assistants to work with children and young people with high complex needs including autism, severe learning difficulties, sensory processing needs, and behaviours that challenge.

This role is offered on an agency basis, starting on a zero hour contract through a recruitment agency. Initial placements will begin on a temporary basis but for the right candidates who show commitment, flexibility, and a good fit with the setting, there is potential for a permanent contract directly with the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to pupils' individual needs.

Implement education, care, and behaviour plans in collaboration with teaching and therapy staff.

Support the development of communication, independence, and social skills.

Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Follow safeguarding and behaviour management protocols at all times.

The ieal candidate will have:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly those with high complex needs.

A calm, adaptable, and resilient approach.

Confidence in handling challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.

Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, Moving & Handling) is an advantage, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
