SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN School | Worthing

Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? A specialist Primary SEN School in Worthing is looking for a resilient, empathetic, and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team this September!

Location: Worthing, West Sussex

Start Date: September 2025

Hours: 8.30-3.30, Monday to Friday – Term Time Only

Pay: £81.75–£89 per day

About the Role:

You’ll be working closely with children aged 4–11 who have SEMH needs, as well as autism and other additional learning difficulties. You will provide both classroom and 1:1 support, helping students regulate emotions, stay engaged in learning, and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support

* Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional well-being

* Build trusting relationships with pupils

* Help implement EHCP targets and classroom strategies

* Support teachers with classroom management and lesson delivery

* Use visual, sensory, and therapeutic resources to aid learning

We’re Looking For:

* Experience working with children with SEMH, autism or behavioural challenges

* Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation

* A calm, positive, and patient approach

* Confidence working in a high-need SEN environment

* Team player with strong communication skills

* Relevant training (Team Teach, MAPA, or similar) is a bonus – but not essential!
