Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Chesterfield

Pay Rate: £86 to £100 per day (Depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time

Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a nurturing school in Chesterfield. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils who require emotional and behavioural support to thrive in their education.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA), you will work closely with students who face challenges related to behaviour, emotional regulation, and mental health. You will provide consistent, structured support to help them engage positively with learning and build confidence and resilience.

Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)

Deliver one-on-one and small group interventions tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.

Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour using de-escalation and therapeutic strategies.

Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement individual behaviour plans.

Build trust and rapport with students to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.

Track and report on student behaviour, engagement, and emotional development.

Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils feel valued and understood.

Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.

A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour management.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Full UK driving licence with business insurance (essential for travel between sites or off-site activities).

Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support are advantageous.
