Primary Teaching Assistant – September Start | Tameside | Full-Time

Are you an aspiring primary teacher or future educational/child psychologist looking to gain classroom experience before taking the next step?

Join a thriving primary school in Tameside this September as a Primary Teaching Assistant and build your experience supporting Key Stage 1 or 2 pupils in a warm, inclusive, and dynamic school setting.

Primary Teaching Assistant – Role Overview

Location: Tameside

Start Date: September 2025

Hours: Full-time, term-time only (Monday to Friday)

Contract Type: Long-term academic year placement

Pay: Competitive daily rate (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 classrooms

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons

Provide 1:1 and small group support, particularly for students with additional or behavioural needs

Help maintain a calm and productive classroom environment

Work flexibly across year groups as needed

Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, compassionate, and eager to gain valuable experience in education.

Essential:

Experience working with children (in schools, youth work, nurseries, tutoring, etc.)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A proactive, professional attitude with a passion for education

Desirable:

A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a relevant degree

Previous experience working in a school or educational setting

Understanding of additional needs, behavioural management, or SEN support
