Playworker

Various hours available– Permanent – York

Castle Education are recruiting on behalf of a well-established childcare provider in York who are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Playworker to join their team.

This is a rewarding role supporting children in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment, both during term time and in school holiday clubs. You will work closely with the Club Manager and Deputy Manager to deliver engaging activities and ensure the highest standards of care.

The Role

As a Playworker, you will:

Assist in planning and delivering a varied programme of structured and free-play activities for children aged 3–12

Support the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework

Act as a key person for a small group of children, building positive relationships with parents and carers

Maintain children’s learning journals and plan next steps for their development

Promote a safe, inclusive environment that celebrates diversity

Ensure health, safety, and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the club, including holiday provisionWhat We Are Looking For

Experience working with children in a playwork, early years, or school setting

Knowledge of the EYFS is desirable but not essential

A warm, caring, and positive approach to working with children

Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
