Description

Prospero Teaching are seeking to appoint a number of Mentors in Totton and nearby areas to support young people aged 4–18 years who are:

At risk of exclusion

Experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

Living with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

As referrals increase for the upcoming academic year, we are offering flexible opportunities ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week.

As a Mentor, you will:

Build positive, trusting relationships with young peopleSupport engagement in activities that promote confidence and social skillsEncourage emotional resilience and personal developmentWork 1:1 or in small groups, depending on the needs of the learner

About you:

We welcome applications from individuals with experience in:

Youth WorkChildren's Support WorkCounsellingFoster Care1:1 Mentoring or similar rolesIf you're passionate about making a difference and have the empathy, patience, and creativity to support young people in meaningful ways, we'd love to hear from you.

Hours – Varied

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people

Trauma–informed and skilled in de–escalation and emotional regulation strategies– Desirable

Hold right to work in the UKHold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new applicationProvide references upon requestPossess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
