The School and Role

An Alternative Provision school located in Christchurch is currently looking for Learning Support Assistants to begin in September. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The successful Support Assistant will work both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis with pupils, providing academic support, helping them overcome learning barriers, and offering emotional assistance. Your role will be vital in fostering the educational and emotional growth of children with special needs or challenging behaviours. Working closely with the class teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), you will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment tailored to each student’s individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with the student to enhance their social and emotional well-being.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience working with children with special needs or challenging behaviour.

Understanding of various learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational journey of every child.
