Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (Autism ASC)

Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Full–time Term Time Only

Salary: GBP90 GBP120 per day (depending on experience)

About the Role:

A warm and inclusive primary school in Aylesbury is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You will play a key role in helping children access the curriculum, develop communication and social interaction skills, and build independence within a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with Autism, adapting learning resources to meet their individual needs.Use strategies such as PECS, TEACCH, or visual timetables to promote engagement and structure.Support social communication, interaction, and play in both classroom and outdoor settings.Work with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).Encourage independence and emotional regulation through positive reinforcement and therapeutic approaches. Requirements:

Experience working with children with Autism or a strong passion for SEN support.Knowledge of Autism–friendly strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration (desirable).Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.Strong communication skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
