Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Northampton

Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent

We are working with a nurturing and forward-thinking special school committed to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those who present with challenging behaviours. The school are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our passionate team and play a pivotal role in improving outcomes for our pupils.

The successful candidate will hold HLTA status or equivalent qualification (or is working towards it) and has substantial experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. In addition to this, they are looking for a candidate to join their team who demonstrates a calm, compassionate, and consistent approach and is able to think creatively, work flexibly, and remain resilient under pressure.

As a HLTA, you will:

Lead and support learning activities across the school under the guidance of teaching staff

Deliver planned lessons and interventions to individuals and small groups

Support pupils in managing their behaviour using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches

Contribute to the planning, assessment, and review process

Act as a role model, coach, and mentor to both pupils and junior support staff

Support the development of pupils' social and emotional skills through positive relationships and consistent boundariesAll candidates who register with Simply Education are required to provide references for the previous 2 years of work, as well as complete an enhanced DBS check.
