Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £23124 – £27258 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only

GSL Education is looking to recruit a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time position at a welcoming secondary school in York, starting in September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, patient, and ready to make a positive impact in the classroom.

About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:

Providing in-class support to pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis to help them access the curriculum and achieve academic progress.

Working alongside teaching staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met.

Helping create an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.

Taking part in planning and reflection meetings with school staff where needed.

Ideal Candidate Requirements for a Teaching Assistant:

A recent graduate (any subject) with a strong academic background.

Experience working with children or young people, either in a school, tutoring, coaching or voluntary setting.

A calm, compassionate and proactive approach.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

A genuine desire to support learners with additional needs.

An Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or the willingness to apply for one.
