The Role of a Graduate Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with additional needs, helping them to achieve their full potential. Your duties will include:

Assisting teachers in delivering differentiated and inclusive learning tailored to individual student needsProviding one–to–one or small–group intervention support for students with additional needsSupporting with break and lunchtime supervision to ensure student well–being and safeguardingPreparing engaging, multi–sensory, and scaffolded learning resourcesEncouraging social–emotional learning (SEL) and development through structured activitiesAssisting with classroom behaviour management and positive reinforcement strategiesSupporting students with personal care needs and sensory regulation strategies if requiredCollaborating with teachers, therapists, and other education professionals to ensure holistic student supportWhat We're Looking For:

To be successful in this role, a Graduate Teaching Assistant should have:

A degree (essential)GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or aboveA patient, nurturing, and trauma–informed approachStrong communication and interpersonal skillsA proactive, adaptable, and creative mindset for working with children with diverse needsA passion for inclusive education and differentiated learningThe ability to commit to a full school day from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (part–time and full–time roles available)Benefits of Working in a Special Needs School:
