Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to support a specialist further education setting on an ongoing temporary basis. This rewarding role involves working with small class groups of young adults aged 18-24, all of whom have been diagnosed with Down syndrome or Autism.The setting offers a supportive and inclusive environment focused on developing independence, communication, and life skills. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support that meets the individual needs of each learner.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to learners with complex needsAssist in the delivery of structured educational and life skills programmesPromote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeingSupport students with personal care and mobility where requiredCollaborate with the wider team to ensure consistent and high-quality support Requirements:

Experience working with SEN learners, particularly those with Autism or Down syndromeA calm, patient and supportive approachRelevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirableEnhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and supporting young adults with additional needs.
