Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham, East London
Job Type: Full–Time, Long–Term
Start Date: ASAP
Job Summary:
Remedy Education is seeking a committed and experienced Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Newham, East London. You will work 1:1 with a student with complex autism, following their EHCP and using strategies such as PECS and visual aids to support learning and engagement.
Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for a student with severe to high–functioning autism
Follow the student's EHCP to ensure tailored support
Use PECS, visual schedules, and other tools to aid communication
Support emotional regulation and manage behavioural outbursts
Assist with personal care when required
Collaborate with the classroom teacher and wider SEN team
Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Requirements:
Experience working with SEN, particularly autism and complex needs
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach is desirable
Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm, supportive manner
Ability to build trust and rapport with students quickly
