Location: Northbrook (Shoreham) Campus, part of the Chichester College group

Salary: £26,716 - £29,196 per annum pro rata (i.e. £20,995.11 - £22,944.05)

Work Pattern: 35 hours per week, 36 weeks per year

Are you a charismatic, determined and confident person who has the ability and skills to engage hard to reach groups and disengaged students, as well as to develop and co-ordinate activities that promote social cohesion and integration? If so, we need you for this high-profile role!

As our College Community Support Officer at our Shoreham campus, you will be an integral member of the College Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team working alongside our Nurses, Counsellors and Support staff to ensure all our learners have the opportunity to experience our college in a safe and secure environment.

What you’ll do as our College Community Support Officer:

Provide first response to incidents across the College site.

To be aware of any areas of concern and assist managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem solving approach to highlighted issues, and to implement de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.

To liaise with curriculum and support teams where appropriate to provide advice, guidance and holistic support to students and staff.

To promote positive behaviour in line with the College’s core values.

To maintain accurate records.

To liaise with external organisations, as appropriate, including for example, contribution to internal events for road safety, wellbeing and e-safety.

Where applicable or appropriate, work with Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and any associated radio links or watch schemes, to provide a proactive and regularly assisted support across the College and as appropriate in the local community.

To support the transportation of students to and from the train station, working with the station staff to promote positive behaviour

What we’re looking for in our College Community Support Officer:

GCSE Maths and English Language or equivalent at C grade or above

Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area e.g. Coaching, Health and Social Care, Youth Work

Experience of working with young people (including 14-19 year olds) and vulnerable adults

Experience of working with challenging behaviour

Experience in delivering training in the workplace

Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases

Knowledge in safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, including Prevent
