Classroom Assistant

Are you passionate about inclusive education and supporting children with special educational needs? We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to join a caring and supportive SEND school in Walsall. This long-term role is ideal for someone eager to make a real difference in the classroom every day.

About the Role:

As a Classroom Assistant, you'll work closely with pupils aged 5-16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), and MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties). Whether you're supporting 1:1 or within small groups, your role will be key in helping students access learning, manage emotions, and build confidence.

You'll be part of a collaborative and experienced team of teachers, therapists, and support staff who work together to create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting pupils in the classroom with tailored learning activities and resources

Assisting in the delivery of individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets

Helping maintain a calm, nurturing, and structured classroom environment

Using positive behaviour support strategies to help with emotional regulation

Encouraging student independence, resilience, and self-esteem

Building strong, trusting relationships with both pupils and staffAbout You:

Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure

Passionate about inclusive education and supporting SEND learners

Confident in working with children who may present communication or behavioural challenges

Able to take initiative, follow guidance, and contribute to a team-focused approach

Ideally experienced in a special school or similar SEN/SEMH support role (though not essential)What We Offer:
