Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentors to join our school in Northampton. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning, ensuring they achieve their full potential and access the curriculum. Working closely with teachers and staff, you will primarily focus on students facing challenges such as special educational needs, medical needs, challenging behaviour, and other disadvantages. Your role will extend beyond the classroom, involving collaboration with families and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one or group support to students, acting as a listener, facilitator for learning, encourager, motivator, and role model.
Address the needs of students with additional challenges, ensuring their behaviour and needs do not impede their learning progress.
Support the school's ethos and values, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement tailored strategies for students with behavioural and learning difficulties.
Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders and adjusting support interventions as necessary.
Promote positive behaviour and social skills development through structured interventions and activities.Core Requirements:
Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, challenging behaviour, or other disadvantages is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and families.
Strong understanding of child development, behaviour management techniques, and relevant safeguarding procedures.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating empathy, resilience, and patience.
