Pay Rate: £90 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you a compassionate and patient Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact in a specialist educational setting?
GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their exceptional team located in Belper. This full-time role is ideal for individuals with a background in SEN support, particularly autism, who are passionate about creating inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environments.
About the School:
Located in rural Derbyshire, this specialist school supports young people with Autism and Developmental Language Disorder. It hosts one of the largest in-school teams of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists in the country, alongside a dedicated Mental Health Team. Students benefit from highly personalised, creative programmes and a strong pastoral care system. The focus is on helping every individual achieve their academic, social, and independence potential. Visitors are always welcome to experience the school’s unique and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with autism spectrum conditions.
Assist in implementing personalised learning and behaviour strategies.
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and external professionals.
Promote student independence, communication, and emotional regulation.
Maintain a safe, positive, and structured environment for all learners.
Requirements for the Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant role:
Experience working with children or young people with autism and/or SEN.
Empathy, resilience, and strong behaviour management strategies.
A calm, consistent, and encouraging approach to support.
Teamwork and good communication with staff, students, and families.
An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
