Are you creative, practical, and passionate about supporting art and design learning?

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Art and Design Technology Technician to join a vibrant secondary school team. You will support the Art and DT departments by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and helping create a safe, inspiring learning environment for students. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as an Art and DT Technician:

Prepare, set up and maintain equipment, tools and materials for Art, Graphics, Textiles, Resistant Materials and/or Food

Assist teaching staff in the delivery of practical lessons and demonstrations

Ensure all tools, machinery and materials are safely stored, maintained and used in line with health and safety regulations

Support students during practical sessions, offering guidance with materials and equipment use

Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies

Assist with displays of student work around the department and school

Carry out routine checks and maintenance on tools and machinery

Keep workspaces clean, organised and hazard-free

Ideal Art and DT Technician:

Has experience working in a school or workshop/studio setting (desirable)

Has a good understanding of health and safety procedures, especially in practical environments

Is confident working with a range of tools, equipment and materials

Has good organisational skills and attention to detail

Is a team player with strong communication skills as an Art and DT Technician.

Is creative, enthusiastic and enjoys supporting students' practical learning

Holds (or is willing to work towards) relevant technician or health & safety qualifications
