Description

Children’s Support Worker – Flexible Hours

Location: Derby / Burton-On-Trent

Pay: £12.70ph - £15.15ph

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? We're currently recruiting Ad Hoc Children's Support Workers in the Burton-on-Trent and Derby areas to work across 4 children’s homes in the same area.

We offer flexible shifts to suit your lifestyle, and there are ongoing opportunities for permanent positions for the right candidates.

About the Role:

You will be working within Residential Children’s Care Homes, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These young people require a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach, and we’re looking for support workers who are resilient, emotionally robust, and confident in managing challenging behaviours.

Due to the nature of the home and the complex needs of the young people, consistency is key. We are building a bank of regular staff who can offer stable, familiar support, helping young people form meaningful and trusting relationships with the same team members.

We offer both regular work (40+ hours per week) and the flexibility to work around your schedule – ideal if you are looking for a work-life balance while making a lasting impact.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking experienced and compassionate individuals who:

* Have worked in a Residential Children’s Care Home, PRU, SEN setting before

* Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

* Are confident supporting children with challenging behaviours and complex needs

* Are resilient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure

* Have experience in a therapeutic care setting (desirable but not essential)

Qualifications / Requirements:

* Level 3 minimum Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent) is highly desirable

* Must be willing to work towards a relevant qualification if not already held

* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one

What We Offer:

* Competitive pay rates

* Flexible or regular shift patterns

* Opportunity to become a consistent, familiar support figure for young people

* A clear pathway to permanent roles within supportive and established care teams

If you're ready to take the next step in your career and help transform young lives, apply now to join our team!

Willo Recruitment is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects every candidate to share this commitment. Placements are subject, to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Checks
