Description

A welcoming primary school in Chelmsford is seeking a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team in September. This role will focus on supporting a child with special educational needs to help them access the curriculum, develop confidence, and feel included in all aspects of school life.

The ideal candidate will be nurturing, adaptable, and able to provide both academic and emotional support. You’ll be working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to put strategies in place that meet the child’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

Work with a pupil on a 1:1 basis to support learning and personal development.

Adapt activities and instructions to make lessons accessible and engaging.

Provide encouragement and reassurance to help build independence.

Support with emotional regulation, social interaction, and behaviour management.

Communicate effectively with teachers, SENCO, and parents regarding progress and challenges.

Help create a safe and positive learning environment where the child can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting children (in a school, nursery, or SEN setting).

Understanding of SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs.

Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to different situations.

A reliable and enthusiastic team player.

Relevant TA/SEN training is desirable, but the right mindset and experience are equally valued.

What the School Offers

A warm and supportive staff team.

Regular support and guidance from an experienced SENCO.

A role where you’ll see the difference you make to a child’s progress.

Competitive rates of pay, paid fortnightly.

How to Apply

If you are passionate about supporting children with SEN and can commit to a full-time role from September 2025, we’d love to hear from you.
