Description
Wonderful sounding vintage British speakers in very good condition, full working order, with refurbished and upgraded crossovers and wiring.
The Ultra Linear range was Celestion's upmarket range in the late 70s, some 40% more expensive than the equivalent Ditton models, and often used in professional monitoring applications. They are a 2 way design using the HF1000 fabric dome tweeter and an 8 inch bextrene mid/bass driver with cast chassis, augmented with a passive bass radiator. These were normally sold in mirrored pair, but this pair has both tweeters on the left.
The crossovers use all air core inductors and have been recapped with a combination of good quality electrolytic and film capacitors. They have also had their wiring upgraded with OFC and soldered point to point, eliminating the steel push on connectors.
One of the woofers has been fitted with a new rubber surround as the original had a tear. As often happens with these, a previous owner has put the wrong grille on the wrong speaker at some point resulting with a small flat spot on the domes. It doesn't seem to affect performance. The cabinets have been filled, rubbed down and oiled and look great. The grilles are missing badges
They sound beautifully clear, crisp and open and very involving. They are hugely improved from standard.
They are suitable for amplifiers up to 100W RMS, frequency response 30Hz-28kHz and have impedance between 4-8ohms. 28cm W x 59cm H x 23.5cm D.
I'm happy to demonstrate and I have a wide range of used and refurbished hifi equipment for sale.
