For sale very rare The Ease Armchair / Fireside Chair by Gareth Neal for Amura. Oak Frame and Tanned Leather seat and backrest.

Heal’s, the renowned British furniture store have been successfully hosting a Bodging Project that brings together makers and designers for almost a decade. In 2014, Gareth Neal and five furniture designers (Chris Eckersley, William Warren, Sarah Kay, Carl Clerkin and Koji Katsuragi) joined forces in the Tottenham Court Road shop window of Heal’s for a week of creative exploration. In a race against time and each other, using a range of offcuts from Ercol and Sitting Firm, they set about crafting beautiful objects.

The Ease armchair boasts a distinctive character, characterized by its original and inventive design. It epitomizes Amura's dedication to exploring forms, materials, and craftsmanship. Utilizing premium materials like saddle leather and wood, artisans sculpt them with meticulous attention to detail, showcasing their expert craftsmanship.

The Ease Chair, handcrafted in Italy, features a leather hide seat which is finished with a process known as vegetable tanning, a tradition of Tuscan tanneries.

The armchair is in very good (original) vintage condition with some slight marks commensurate with age and use. It is free of any damage, repairs or wear to joints. The chair is sturdy with no loose joints or spindles. The armchair retains an original Heals label.

Item is available for the collection from London, E7 9JX. I can offer a delivery in person to any London address for at a cost of £45. Delivery to London vicinity area is also possible. Please contact me for a quote before making a purchase. London deliveries are only available on late evenings during the week. I am more flexible with the delivery time on weekends.
