Description

Job Title: Diabetes-Trained SEN Specialist / Teaching Assistant

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £85 - £100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you a compassionate, experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or Specialist with training in diabetes care? Aspire People are currently recruiting for a dedicated individual to support a child with Type 1 Diabetes in a primary school in Birmingham.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting difference in a young pupil's life while working in a supportive and welcoming school environment. If you have experience supporting children with medical needs and a passion for inclusive education, we want to hear from you!

The Role:

Provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged child with Type 1 Diabetes

Monitor blood glucose levels and administer insulin as required

Work closely with school staff, parents, and medical professionals to implement the child's care and education plans

Support learning and engagement in the classroom

Ensure the pupil feels safe, included, and confident throughout the school day

Requirements:

Experience supporting children with additional medical or SEN needs in a school setting

Up-to-date diabetes care training .

Knowledge of managing Diabetes in children

Excellent communication and safeguarding awareness

Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
