If you’re looking for a modern classic, with a very interesting twist, this could be the car for you…

We are told this was originally an Austin Metro believed to be a rare limited edition ‘Redhot’, it still sports the Redhot emblems on the seats although when the current owner correctly updated the engine size with the DVLA the V5 came back as a Rover Metro without a reference to it being a Redhot. We would encourage the new owner to establish this if possible as there are only circa 8 reported Redhot of this era left.

It’s had extensive and well thought out works and modifications; currently running an MGF 120 engine and running gear with Spax suspension and MGF hydro cans which have individualised valves as all original pipe work was taken out.

The floors and wings and have been correctly reinforced to take the subframe but these works can feasibly be reversed.

Any corrosion found was cut out from the bodywork, and the vendor reports that the shell was in surprisingly good shape. The underside, inside engine bay and inner wings were sprayed in raptor with plenty used - very tough wearing. The wings were cut down a couple of inches as the wheel didn’t look quite right but still retain the look of Metro wings; the car will come with the old wings that were sprayed if wanted and it is worth noting that there is a slight colour miss-match in certain light. Its started by two keys as it retains the original Metro steering column; retaining the steering lock (for MOT) and stalk controlled lights etc there is a second key used on the dash that turns the engine over.
The interior is reported to be in very good condition, and as mentioned is fitted with the ‘Redhot’ seats. The 13inch Minilite wheels are in good shape with 1 brand new tyre at the rear and 5/6mm tread on the other 3 corners. The gearstick has a slight wobble and like a Honda Civic the vendor changed the rubber and squirrel cage which has improved it but not 100 percent
Bodywork has imperfections as in photos but are reported as light scratches.

This looks like a lot of fun and with works carried out to a decent standard it’s ready to be MOT’d and returned to the road or just enjoyed for some track day fun.
