The Role We are seeking a confident, proactive, and analytical Payroll Officer to join our busy, fast-paced Payroll function. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll services across our workforce, supporting both temporary and permanent staff.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure timely and accurate payment of wages by BACS to 2,000 temporary workers (weekly) and 240 permanent staff (monthly).

Update and maintain payroll records.

Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally.

Process new starters, leavers, hours worked, expenses, SSP, SMP, absences, commissions, and personal detail changes.

Complete tax year-end procedures, including P60s, P11Ds, PSA, and other reports.

Manage all aspects of pensions, including auto-enrolment, communications, reconciliations, compliance, and salary sacrifice.

Create and provide reports in Microsoft Excel for Finance and Operations teams.

Support system upgrades with the Projects Team to ensure payroll runs smoothly.

Skills & Qualifications

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with staff at all levels.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

A proactive, flexible approach with a willingness to take on varied tasks.

Good general knowledge of all payroll aspects.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills are desirable.
